Q: Good Morning Jennifer! First off, can you give me an easy to understand description of SEO and why it’s important to every website?
A: SEO is the method of making your website rank high on Google. Where you stand on search engines is extremely important because at the end of the day, the more people you have coming to your website, the more sales you will have.
Q: Is SEO important for every industry?
A: Yes! I would say just about everyone can benefit from SEO.
Q: When should I expect to see results?
A: How fast you start seeing results highly depends on which industry you’re in. If you’re in a highly competitive industry, for instance if you’re a lawyer, realtor or doctor in Orlando, it’s going to take some time to see results. With a highly competitive industry, you can expect to see results anywhere from six months to a year. If it’s not that competitive of an industry or a mom and pop store, you will start to see results between three to six months.
Q: Is SEO an ongoing process?
A: Oh yeah! It goes on forever.
Q: So if I signed up with MyCity Social for a year long SEO commitment, what will happen if I discontinue SEO at the end of the year?
A: If you decide to stop doing SEO, you have to consider those around you that ARE doing SEO. Most businesses are realizing that they DO make more money by implementing SEO practices. So let’s say you stop doing SEO and the competition in your city is consistent with their SEO practices. They are either going to catch up to you or surpass you in their site’s ranking. Q: Would you say that now days you have to implement SEO in order to have a website?
A: You can definitely have a website without SEO, but if you will most likely be a pebble lost at sea. Once you start doing SEO, you will finally come to the surface where people can start noticing you.
Q: Can you talk about some success stories, or how you know you’re on the right track, rather it be weekly or monthly?
A: My favorite time of the month is when I look at reports. For this month, just this morning one of my clients jumped 90 spots on Google for two keywords within 30 days of me working on their account.
Q: How will I know that you are going to give my account the attention that it needs?
A: Well, every Friday I make sure to send a weekly email of what I’ve done throughout the week. Then every month I will send a detailed report where you can see the metrics behind everything. With SEO, the numbers are the proof in the pudding.
Q: Jennifer, how long have you personally been doing SEO?
A: I started learning how to build websites in 2006 when I first started college at the University of Central Florida. After the first year or so I began learning about SEO and became somewhat obsessed with fixing meta tags, keyword research and watching my websites crawl to the top of Google. Seeing the customers and money pour in was a major motivator!
After college, I decided to get a web development certification while I was also starting my Masters. My love affair with SEO grew even more during my schooling and led me to my marketing internship, and then my first professional job, and now I’m back at it.
